Gugu Mbatha-Raw (born Gugulethu Sophia Mbatha in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England) is an English actress and vocal artist who portrays Clea Hopkins on the FOX series Touch. "Gugulethu", is a contraction of "igugu" and "lethu," meaning "our pride" in Xhosa, like the township of the same name. Anne, her mother, is an English nurse, and Patrick, her father, is a South African doctor. She has appeared at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre in Romeo and Juliet as well as on various television series such as Bad Girls (1999), Doctor Who (2007) and Marple (2007). In September 2010, she starred in the JJ Abrams TV series Undercovers, however the show was cancelled two months later.
